Keep Your Eyes on Jesus

Posted on Oct 21 2008

Hebrews 12:2-3 “…looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.”

Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!

When I struggle and doubts arise in my heart towards my faith, I press on through taking a closer look at Christ’s life. In the world of toils, snares, and heartaches, we must find refuge in the fact that Jesus has overcome them all! Our joy and faith is made complete by his sacrifice as man. We must hold tight to our love relationship with Christ, him as the groom and us as the bride. So today, remember what is ahead of you, as Christ focused on what was ahead for us before going on the cross.

Jesus knew where he was headed and nothing could keep him from the place he desired with all his heart (heaven—with you). Where is your life headed? Is there a real direction, an underlying meaning? Would your life be the same without this man named Jesus?

Live the life you were called to, don’t settle.
