Both Echo Valley and Singing Hills have made some significant upgrades in the way meals are served and presented, and we are very encouraged by the response of the campers.
First of all, we have purchased all new white plates, bowls, cups, glasses, heavy silverware, tablecloths, serving pieces, platters, food warmers, bowls, pitchers, and much more. Why? Because we want mealtime to be more than just eating . . . we want it to be an experience!
The greatest change at Echo Valley is that all campers eat at the same time. For lunch and dinner, there are no buffet lines, drink lines, or campers on their feet. All campers are seated by cabin with their counselors at large tables. Our support staff actually serves and waits on the tables and this allows everyone to eat at the same time without any movement on the floor. Along with this, there are skits and music that accompany lunch and dinner. This process also enables counselors to make sure kids are eating and drinking enough to keep them healthy and energetic. As a side benefit, this new process gets our behind-the-scenes staff to be out front serving campers and counselors, and presents the opportunity for them the discover the joy of serving people.
Both camps are so blessed to have healthy and abundant H-E-B prepared food, and we want to showcase what we think is one of the highlights of LLYC!
