Random hugs and American pride

This entry was posted on Jul 04, 2011, by Bonner Ercums and is filed under News, The Beat @ LLYC

Yesterday a camper that I don’t even know ran up to me and wrapped me up in a hug. I was a little bit startled since I wasn’t exactly expecting it, but as I watched that camper skip away to hug someone else my heart filled with a peaceful joy. That is exactly why LLYC is so wonderful. I love seeing so much happiness on the faces of kids who have literally been counting down the days till camp for an entire year.

Today is the Fourth of July and everyone came to breakfast decked out in anything and everything American. We have people wearing shorts, t-shirts, and bandanas, all of which have the American flag plastered across them. The cool thing do on any day, but particularly on this day, is to walk around shouting “’MERICA!” in the manliest voice possible. It’s also very appropriate to have a mustache on the Fourth of July. Conveniently for us girls, pink mustaches can be purchased at the sugar shack. We’re looking forward to a day filled with “’MERICA!” pride.

Fourth of July is their favorite holiday.

American flag shorts are all the rage.

"One nation, under God..."

Fourth of July twins!

Now that's some pride!
