I can’t believe Jam Session is over! The kids were so great, and I don’t know a single person who wasn’t wishing we could keep them a full two weeks. Thankfully, we’ve had plenty of things to distract us from our loss of some awesome campers.
After Jam Session campers were on the road, we had to say goodbye to our first-half staff. It was so sad to watch the people who had become like brothers and sisters to us leave the canyon. Tears were shed as we all hugged one another and said our farewells till next time.
Before we knew it 3:00 rolled around and second-half staff were trickling in. Their arrival was as refreshing as rain in a drought! Second-half staff brought with them a wave of energy that us all-summer staff desperately needed! With this new vigor we were able to pull together as a team and a community to prepare for the rest of the summer.
At about 4:30 on Sunday morning the Outbound Haiti group returned. Praise God for their successful trip and safe travel! The few stories that I’ve heard so far have been incredible and I can’t wait to hear more. Some of our second-half and all-summer staff were on the trip and they bounced back so well that you wouldn’t even guess they’d been in Haiti for a week!
After all this excitement we had the pleasure of welcoming THIRD SESSION!!! It has started out so smoothly and there is so much fun in store for this new set of kids. Echo Valley had a dance Sunday night and as I sit here writing this my neck is killing me from the killer dance moves I was whipping out.
God decided to add to all the excitement by sending a little rain our way on Monday. It wasn’t much, but it cooled the canyon down significantly. Thank you Lord!
Pray for everyone here at LLYC as we start second half of summer and third session. We can’t wait to see what God has planned for these next weeks!
