On Tuesday morning the clouds started rolling in and by the time lunch came around they were ready to unleash their fury. Instead of running for cover like many of us are usually quick to do, everyone instantly ran for the open field. I don’t know where it came from, but there was a sudden wave of energy that swept through camp.
As the rain came down in torrents, kids and staff ran, danced, and leaped through the puddles that were forming all around them. The canyon was filled with a contagious joy that not a single person could contain. It was in each splash of water as girls danced through the field. It was in the mud that was smeared across the faces of boys as they wrestled in the grass. It was incredible.
After the rain stopped the skies were still gray over Laity Lodge Youth Camp, however, the faces of everyone here are about as sunny as California. We have been in a major drought out here this summer and the rain is something we constantly pray for. Praise God that, when it comes, such happiness comes with it!

"You heavens above, rain down righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness grow with it; I, the LORD, have created it." -Isaiah 45:8
