Kimberly and Brandon Hill- Summer 2005
It’s become a classic staff-week word to the wise: Don’t start a relationship while you’re at camp.
“It won’t last,” they say, “and everything will seem different when you get back to the REAL world.” For a few brave couples, however, that camp sparkle never wore off.
Brandon Hill and Kimberly (Pearson) Hill met in the Echo Valley kitchen- she was the boss, and he was her lowly cook. I remember talking to Kimberly when she got home from camp, she told me about how Brandon held her hand as they watched the 4th of July fireworks. They were married about a year later, surrounded by family and a whole lot of friends, many from LLYC.
Kayti and Connor Duffie- Summer 2010
Connor Duffie and Kayti (Brosnan) Duffie had to eat some crow on their path to love. Connor, as the Guys’ Director, really felt strongly that the men under his watch were wasting their time by pursuing camp relationships, and he made sure to drive that point home hard during staff week. As it turns out, within days he would break his own rules and fall head over heels for Kayti, the camp nurse.
Allison (Sanches) Emmett and Brett Emmett were camp friends for years, and after they fell in love Brett planned a wild engagement that involved kidnapping and a night-time rescue at Box Canyon. What more could anyone expect from two lovestruck programmer-types?
