The word MOG might conjure up any number of images in your mind- an amphibious vehicle used in WWII, a gene in the human sequence, maybe a mysterious swamp-monster… If you’ve been a guy at Echo Valley in the past few summers, however, it means something really special.
Each morning at camp, the boys and their stalwart leaders line up across the playfield and charge en masse toward the Old Pavilion at the far end of Echo Valley. Once they get there, the program is part pep rally, part bible study, part life story time. I think part of the secret of MOG’s success with the campers is the fact that they see the staff around them living out the things they are teaching the kids. Living together in community, they can see what it looks like to live as a godly man or woman.
Since I became a mother, I’ve often wondered how to make this kind of connection with my son as he grows up. How can we enjoy fellowship and worship with him every day? As I searched for helpful advice to pass on, this article by Ann Kroeker (from our sister program TheHighCalling.org) stopped me in my tracks. Rather than a recipe of activities and thought-provoking questions, she suggests that as parents, we seek God the way we hope our kids will. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
