Meet the Staff

Kevin Mayne – Executive Director

Kevin, LLYC’s fearless leader, also known as our Executive Director, has a heart that matches his height. (He is really, really tall.) His gracious spirit is evident in everything he does and says. He has a passion for people, but more specifically, for people to know Jesus. His desire is for the Gospel message to be shared with the campers in such a way that it not only affects them, but their homes, communities, and eventually the world! Summer 2009 will celebrate the Maynes’ 12th anniversary with LLYC. Kevin, his wife, Judi, and their two kiddos, Kaitlin and Mikey, live in Kerrville during the school year and move out to camp during the summer. The Maynes live between Singing Hills and Echo Valley during the summer, so that Kevin can keep an eye on and administer the craziness at both camps! Judi is an Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Kerrville during the school year and spends the summer months supporting the ministry of LLYC. Kaitlin just graduated from Tivy High School and her next step (besides working at the Sugar Shack the first half of the summer) is to attend Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Mikey just finished sixth grade and now believes he is headed for fame in long-distance running or as an air soft gun sniper. The Maynes have added to their family this year . . . Mariana Miguel came to Texas on a Rotary Exchange Program from Brazil. She has completely mastered the language of English in just nine months as well as had major ACL surgery to repair a soccer injury! As for Kevin, we like to think his claims to fame before LLYC were starring in the high school band with his trombone skills and studying rocks in college. If you have ever met the Mayne family . . . consider yourself blessed. They love Jesus, people, and the ministry of LLYC!!!  :-)

 Chandler Pruitt – Director

Another summer? Really? The summer of 2009 will mark his 23rd summer with LLYC. He may sound old . . . because he is! Chandler is a graduate of Angelo State University and Texas Tech University. (Get your guns up!) He traded drawing pretty pictures in the architecture world for shaving cream fights and campouts. God has changed many lives through the Pruitt family. Margo, his sweet wife, loves to love people and nurse them back to health. She is an RN at the Peterson Regional Ambulatory Care Center in Kerrville. She will once again be the LLYC Health Care Director, working closely with the LLYC Nurses. Chandler and Margo have three precious munchkins: Marshall, Maggie, and Mollie. Marshall enjoys the social life, squeezing in a little high school when he has time. He enters his 11th and last year as an LLYC camper. Maggie loves fashion and toys with tennis and running. She never forgets a thing. This will be her 7th year as an LLYC camper. Mollie loves basketball and Icees. She will graduate from Singing Hills this summer. Chandler will again be Director of Singing Hills this summer. After spending time with this precious family, you will no doubt see their love and passion for children to know the love of Jesus Christ.

Trey Tull – Associate Director

This summer will be Trey’s 4th summer at LLYC as Director over Echo Valley. The Tulls’ relationship with LLYC started in 1995 when Leah (Russell), his cute wife, was a counselor and girls’ director at Echo Valley for two summers. Trey graduated from A&M (Whoop!) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and received a Master of Arts in Leadership at Denver Seminary. Fueled by a passion for the outdoors, Trey served many summers at Young Life’s Wilderness Ranch, guiding high schoolers into the wilderness for weeks at a time. He splits his free time between remodeling his house, elk hunting, and jogging with his kids. He best describes his life as being a combination of “near-death experiences and most-embarrassing moments.” Needless to say . . . we LOVE his really great stories! At LLYC, Trey sees his job as fostering the relational and creative potential that 200 passionate and enthusiastic college kids bring to camp. He loves seeing staff grow and succeed in their individual roles. Trey and Leah’s family grew to five this year with, Elli, Claire, and now Luke. Elli and Claire love having camp in their front yard… they spend as much time as possible in the river, at the Sugar Shack, or digging in “the world’s biggest sandbox.” Their newest addition, Luke, is a fat little man who mostly just smiles and makes funny noises. Leah works hard serving the family as a mom and a Realtor in Kerrville. Trey and Leah are humble servants and empowering leaders. They desire to build community, and have a deep, genuine love for people. LLYC is blessed to have the Tulls.

Emily McRae – Registrar

Emily LOVES our LLYC parents and campers. She orchestrates the registration process, gets to bless campers with the news of scholarships, and fills camp with as many campers as possible. She finds great joy in parent contact and building those relationships throughout the year. This will mark Emily’s 8th summer with LLYC. Emily and Chastan, her husband (as of May 3 … YAY!), live in Kerrville and enjoy most evenings and weekends hanging out with their nieces, Lulu, Jilian, Sarah Faith, and Gabby, their rockstar nephew, David Tyler, and their fun family! They have both lived in Kerrville their entire lives and pretty much know everyone! :) Emily graduated from Tivy High School and Schreiner University with a B.A. in Psychology. These days she can be found driving back and forth from Schreiner (again) finishing up some pre-reqs, working towards P.A. School (she really loves school). She loves medicine and people . . . so this is a perfect fit! Emily loves our campers and their parents well and has a deep desire to serve them. Her joy and love for life are contagious.

Angela Aadahl - Associate Director164_6447

We’d like to introduce the newest member of the LLYC team . . . Angela Aadahl! Angela will work this summer as Assistant Girls’ Co-Director at Singing Hills while she gets acclimated to the LLYC culture, which is coming along quickly. Angela made her way to Texas from Boston after completing her Master of Arts in Theology degree from the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. She received her undergraduate degree in Speech Communication from Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. While attending the seminary, Angela worked as the Director of Youth Ministry and College & Career Ministry at Tremont Temple Baptist Church. She loved this job because of the amazing feeling she gets when teenagers let her into their lives. She feels nothing is more rewarding than investing your life into a young person’s life. Angela has a great understanding of the youth culture, has a vibrant faith, and is very comfortable relationally. She is filled with wisdom and has incredible energy (enough to run the Boston marathon) and will surely be an incredible addition to the LLYC team.

Diane Henry – Secretary

Sweet Diane Henry joined the LLYC team almost 4 years ago, and what a blessing she has been! She grew up in Ingram, Texas, and was the Ingram High School Homecoming Queen and Prom Queen of 1998. Congrats! (‘98 was a big year.) She has been known to wear her crowns around the office from time to time. She attended UTSA and studied Interior Design, which she uses a lot as secretary in the LLYC office. :) Her pride and joy is her precious little five-year-old tooter, Taylor. Taylor = pink, sassy, and big blue eyes. She loves to play hard and always keeps her mommy busy! Diane works really hard. Such a servant to our office, always willing to do whatever, she keeps us organized and filled with coffee in our bodies (just for the record, she makes it really strong. Yum!) She is Kevin’s right-hand woman . . . we are SO grateful for her. When you call our office, she is the cheerful voice on the other end. Good afternoon, Diane, we love you!

 John Hill – Spiritual Director

John HillJohn Hill is accompanied by his wife, Holly Baker Hill, and their two children, Haddie and Emory. During the year, John is the Executive Director for Laity Lodge Family Camp . . . where parents and families can experience camp together! The Foundation ministries, as well as the landscape of the Frio Canyon, have provided profound and virtually lifelong influences upon John. “I started attending LLYC when I was seven,” John said, “and returned every summer through college, either as a camper, volunteer, or counselor. The Canyon is where I accepted the Lord into my life and where I met my wife. When I was 16 and part of work crew, I met Holly who was also serving on work crew. Some years later, while we were overlooking Echo Valley from Antenna, I asked Holly to marry me. Our relationship and our family is rooted in this place and in the Foundation ministries.” John has a BBA from Southwestern University and an MDIV from Virginia Theological Seminary. John has served as Director of Program for Sky Ranch and Executive Director of Camps and Conferences for the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas. John and his family returned from Melbourne, Australia, where John was Vicar of St. Paul’s Anglican Church. WOW! He’s really spiritual!!! He’s excited to be back in the Canyon and loving on our staff and campers.
