Flight Changes in the Haiti Itinerary

Dear Mission Team,

We have wrestled for several weeks over the originally proposed flight schedule, and as of Friday, March 26, we have decided to make the following major changes.  We have chosen to avoid flying from Miami to Port-au-Prince, Haiti and instead have decided to fly from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida directly to Cap Haitian, Haiti on board Florida Coastal Airlines, Inc (formerly known as Lynx Air International).

The reason for the change is two-fold.  First, Port-au-Prince is still a disaster zone, and with that status comes higher risk.  The second reason is just as significant.  If we followed our original plan, we would have to board buses from the PAP International Airport and drive across the city to a regional airport where we would fly in small aircrafts to Cap Haitian.  These small aircraft are Haitian owned and operated.

Florida Coastal Airlines, Inc operates 30 passenger aircrafts, and they service Haiti, Bahamas, and Cuba.  We are making this change because they are a US owned and maintained air service, and honestly, they will provide an easier, safer connection to Cap Haitian which is only 15 miles from Jacob’s Well Youth Camp.

Because we are a large team, it makes it impossible for all of us to get there at the same time.   Therefore, we have created a manageable plan that will look like this:

All of us will depart San Antonio (SAT) on Saturday afternoon, July 3, at 4:30 pm on American Airlines Flt 766/1203 to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  This flight connects through DFW and arrives Ft. Lauderdale (FLL) at 10:30 pm.  Once again, this is the whole team!

On Sunday afternoon, July 4th, at 1:00 pm, 20 members of our Set-Up Team will fly on Florida Coastal Airlines, Inc. to Cap Haitian.  On Monday morning, July 5th, at 6:00 am, 14 members of our Take-Down Team will fly on Florida Coastal Airlines to Cap Haitian (CAP).

On Friday, July 9, the 20 on the Set-Up Team will depart CAP at 8:30 am and return to Ft. Lauderdale (FLL).  On Saturday, July 10, the Take-Down Team of 14 will depart CAP at 8:30 am and return to FLL.

The entire team will fly home together departing FLL on Saturday, July 10, at 6:25 pm on American Airlines Flt 1069/1117 arriving SAT at 10:30 pm.  We will let you know specifically what Florida Coastal Airlines flight you are on in the next 45 days.  We will also let you know what hotels we will be using in Ft. Lauderdale and in Cap Haitian.

Honestly, there will be great blessing in this schedule!  We will have time to prepare for the mission, bond the team, and ease through Customs with less stress.  Please call me if there are questions left unanswered in this schedule.  We have much more information to come!

Serving Him,

Kevin for the team
