Meet the Staff

Kevin Mayne – Executive Director

Kevin, LLYC’s fearless leader, also known as our Executive Director,  has a heart that matches his height. (He is really, really tall.) His gracious spirit is evident in everything he does and says. He has a passion for people, but more specifically, for people to know Jesus. His desire is for the Gospel message  to be shared with the campers in such a way that it not only affects them, but their homes, communities, and eventually the world!

Kevin, his wife, Judi, and their two kiddos, Kaitlin and Mikey, live in Kerrville during the school year and move out to camp during the summer. The Maynes live between  Singing Hills and Echo Valley during the summer, so that Kevin can keep an eye  on and administer the craziness  at both camps! Judi is an Associate  Pastor at  First United Methodist Church in Kerrville during the school year and spends the summer months supporting the ministry of LLYC. Kaitlin is  attending the Art Institute of San Antonio and preparing for her wedding in November!  Mikey enjoys chasing wild hogs  in the Canyon on his four-wheeler!

Kevin has been with LLYC since 1997. We  like to think his claims to fame before LLYC were starring  in the high school band with his trombone skills and studying rocks in college. If you have ever  met the Mayne family . . . consider yourself blessed. They love  Jesus, people, and the ministry of LLYC.

Chandler Pruitt – Director

LLYC Pruitt FamilyAnother  summer?  Really? Chandler  has been  with LLYC  since 1986. Whew! Old in body and young at heart.  He is a graduate  of Angelo State  University and Texas Tech University.  He traded drawing pretty pictures in architecture for  shaving cream fights and campouts. The rest, as they say, is history. This summer he will be  serving as Camp Director at Singing Hills. God has changed many lives through the Pruitts.  Chandler’s sweet wife, Margo, has served as the LLYC Health Care Director for too many years to  count. She also serves regularly as a registered nurse at the Peterson Ambulatory Surgical Center.

Chandler  and Margo have  three over-the-top  children:  Marshall,  Maggie, and Mollie. Marshall is  embarking on college after an adventurous trip through and over the Kerrville school system. He has  mastered many musical instruments, but he focuses mostly on the drums. Marshall does his share of  running, and he is always up for an adventure. Maggie dabbles in running, but loves to play guitar.  She recently finished her freshman year of high school. Mollie is an official graduate of Peterson  Middle School. She heads into high school deeply involved in basketball. She plays her share of  tennis and loves Icees. After spending time with the Pruitts, you will no doubt see their love and  passion for children to know the love of Jesus Christ.

Trey Tull – Associate Director

LLYC Tull FamilyTrey has been at LLYC as Director over Echo Valley since 2005. The Tulls’ relationship with LLYC started in 1995 when Leah (Russell), his cute wife, was a counselor and girls’ director at Echo Valley for two summers. Trey graduated from A&M (Whoop!) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and received a Master of Arts in Leadership at Denver Seminary. Fueled by a passion for the outdoors, Trey served many summers at Young Life’s Wilderness Ranch, guiding high schoolers into the wilderness for weeks at a time. He splits his free time between elk hunting, jogging with his kids, and, as of recently, raising chickens. He best describes his life as being a combination of “near-death experiences and most-embarrassing moments.” Needless to say . . . we LOVE his really great stories!

At LLYC, Trey sees his job as fostering the relational and creative potential that 200 passionate and enthusiastic college kids bring to camp. He loves seeing staff grow and succeed in their individual roles. Trey and Leah are blessed with three beautiful children, Elli, Claire, and Luke and another on the way. They love having camp in their front yard… they spend as much time as possible in the river, at the Sugar Shack, or digging in “the world’s biggest sandbox (volleyball courts.)” Leah works hard serving the family as a mom and a Realtor in Kerrville. Trey and Leah are humble servants and empowering leaders. They desire to build community, and have a deep, genuine love for people. LLYC is blessed to have the Tulls.

Emily McRae – Registrar

Laity Lodge Youth Cam - McRae FamilyEmily LOVES our LLYC parents and campers. She orchestrates the registration process, gets to bless campers with the news of scholarships, and fills camp with as many campers as possible. Since joining the Youth Camp team in 2001, she has found great joy in parent contact and building those relationships throughout the year. Emily, her husband, Chastan, and their twin boys, Paxton & Brody, live in Kerrville and enjoy everything “boy.”  Most evenings and weekends they can be found either rolling around on the living room floor, playing outside on the bitty 4-wheeler, or hanging out with their fun extended family (who only live blocks away)! They have both lived in Kerrville their entire lives and pretty much know everyone!Emily graduated from Tivy High School and Schreiner University with a B.A. in Psychology. She has a deep desire for relationships and she loves to nurture those. She understands our parents needs and wants to serve them as best as possible. Emily loves our campers and their parents well. Her joy and love for life are contagious.

Angela Aadahl - Associate Director

164_6447Angela Aadahl is the newest member of the LLYC team, joining us in 2009. She is excited about returning this summer as Associate Director at Echo Valley. Angela made her way to Texas from Boston after completing her Master of Arts in Theology degree from the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. She received her undergraduate degree in Speech Communication from Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. While attending the seminary, Angela worked as the Director of Youth Ministry and College & Career Ministry at Tremont Temple Baptist Church. She loved this job because of the amazing feeling she gets when teenagers let her into their lives. She feels nothing is more rewarding than investing your life into a young person’s life. Angela has a great understanding of the youth culture, has a vibrant faith, and is very comfortable relationally. She is filled with wisdom and has incredible energy (enough to run the Boston marathon) and is an incredible addition to the LLYC team.

Diane Henry – Secretary

Sweet Diane Henry joined the LLYC team in 2005, and what a blessing she has been! She grew up in Ingram, Texas, and was the Ingram High School Homecoming Queen and Prom Queen of 1998. Congrats! (‘98 was a big year.) She has been known to wear her crowns around the office from time to time. She attended UTSA and studied Interior Design, which she uses a lot in the LLYC office. Her pride and joy is her precious little girl, Taylor, who will be an LLYC camper for the first time this summer! Taylor loves to play hard and is NEVER short on words! Diane works really hard. Such a servant to our office, always willing to do whatever, she keeps us organized and filled with coffee in our bodies (just for the record, she makes it really strong. Yum!) She is Kevin’s right-hand woman . . . we are SO grateful for her. When you call our office, she is the cheerful voice on the other end. Good afternoon, Diane, we love you!

Bernadette “Bernie” Byars – 2011/2012 Intern

Laity Lodge Youth Camp Bernie Byars
Bernadette “Bernie” Byars grew up in Castroville, Texas, and accepted Christ as a young girl at LLYC one summer at Singing Hills. Bernie graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Political Science. During her first few years at college, Bernie served as Public Relations officer for Maggies. She is currently involved in Jesus Said Love ministry. Bernie comes to us from Hole in the Roof, a printing company out of Waco, and knows firsthand how experiences at LLYC can lead to positions of servant leadership and relational ministries. Bernie brings to the Fellowship Program a passion for relationships, restoration, and administrative work.

Rachel Horsley – 2011/2012 Intern

Laity Lodge Youth Camp Rachel Horsley

Rachel Horsley grew up in Amarillo, Texas, and started a lifelong love with LLYC at the age of 12. It was during her years as a counselor at Singing Hills that she began to recognize a passion for children and art. Rachel joins us as a recent graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Art Education. While at UT, she served as part of the Young Life community, transforming the lives of girls in the Austin area while building a team and being a leader. Rachel believes God’s plan for her has prevailed throughout her time at LLYC and will continue as she serves through the Fellowship Program.
