How many years have you spent in the Canyon?

  • Canyon Years: during college years at A&M – Cabin H counselor at EV 1996, EV Girls’ Director 1997 with Chandler Pruitt (during his first full summer on year-round staff)
  • Married Trey and we eventually moved to Denver, where we worked at Young Life’s Wilderness Ranch for several summers while we worked at and attending Denver Seminary
  • God led us back to LLYC in 2006 when Trey began working as a director at Echo Valley with Katie Chapman, where we served for 7 years
  • This summer, we made a temporary move to LLFC to help launch their first full summer at Headwaters

What are you up to these days?

We have four children:  Elli (10), Claire (7), Luke (4), and William (2).  Our children absolutely love moving to camp in the summers.  They have a countdown all year long.  It is such a blessing for them to be able to run free, play hard, and live with hundreds of amazing college-age Christian staff!

What has it been like to watch your children grow up in the Canyon?

In particular, FLR provides ‘Canyon Club’ (directed by Kim Kerr) as a daily VBS type of experience for the children of Canyon directors.  They go on field trips, memorize scripture, act out Bible Stories, experience daily adventures and activities in the camps, and most importantly, they are loved on by the Canyon Club staff girls!  Experiencing summers at Laity Lodge is a very unique opportunity and we are so grateful for the Lord provision for our family in this way!

How else does the time you spent as a camper and staffer still impact your life today?

It is such an honor and blessing to share God’s love with the campers, staff, and families we have gotten to know through Laity.  God continues to show himself in so many ways out in the canyon! What a privilege to see His glory there.
