June 15, 2021 — Following guidance from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), the updates listed below will go into effect on Opening Day of Session Two:
1. Masks will no longer be required. Anyone who chooses to wear a mask will be supported in doing so.
2. Social distancing will no longer be required
3. Cabins will sit together for meals. Cohorts for activities and free time will no longer be utilized.
We are continuing to require vaccination proof or negative COVID tests before or on Opening Day. We will conduct daily COVID screenings of campers and staff, and will perform COVID tests of anyone exhibiting symptoms.
On June 8, 2021 the DSHS issued updated guidance that is substantially reduced and modified from previous guidance, which did not include any language about social distancing. One of the key updates made regarding masks reads as follows:
“In general, people do not need to wear masks. However, as best practice, particularly in areas of substantial to high transmission, people who are not fully vaccinated including children under the age of 12 years may choose to wear a mask in crowded settings or during activities that involve sustained close contact with other people. Camp programs should be supportive of campers or staff who may choose to wear a mask.”
