Summer 2022 Theme - The Fruits of the Spirit

What we Pondered at camp:

Galatians 5:22 NLT

“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” 

 

Love: Romans 5:8 NIV “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Peace: Phillippians 4:7 ESV “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Kindness: Ephesians 4:32 NIV “ Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Faithfulness: Lamentations 3:22-23 NIV “Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Two Weeks More!

Patience: Ephesians 4:2 NLT “Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.”

Greek: Makrothymia:

  • patience, endurance, constancy, steadfastness, perseverance
  • patience, forbearance, longsuffering, slowness in avenging wrongs

Joy: Romans 15:13 NLT “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Greek: Chara: joy, gladness

  • the joy received from you
  • the cause or occasion of joy
  • of persons who are one’s joy

Goodness: Ephesians 5:9 NLT “For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.”

Greek: agathōsynē: uprightness of heart and life, goodness, kindness

  • desire after “goodness,” to be and do good.

Self-control: 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”

Greek: egkrateia: self-control (the virtue of one who masters his desires and passions)

  • it follows “knowledge,” suggesting that what is learned requires to be put into practice.

Hey Girls' Side!

We are so eternally grateful to have had the pleasure of spending time getting to know each and everyone one of you. 

 

As we go back to our busy lives full of all of the world’s challenges, mundane tasks, and distractions, we pray that all of us can be reminded of the importance of spending time being aware of the Lord’s presence. Remember how that looked at camp – sitting peacefully, listening to the sound of the wind within the trees, feeling the joy in our hearts while singing and praying, dancing, playing, even just sharing laughter during our time together. We hope you know that the Lord loves each and every one of you. We are so encouraged by our time in the canyon together!

 

This summer we dove deep into Galatians 5:22 and the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We praise God that these fruits are produced through the Holy Spirit. We encourage each and everyone one of you to pray over these words, whether that be by making a song with the word “joy” in it, asking the Lord to give you “kind words to speak,” or being “patient” in the stillness. We want to remind each of you that you have the ability to take time to read Scripture and write down a verse or two underlining, highlighting, and drawing whatever you want! 

 

We miss you all so much and are so excited to hear about all the ways the Lord moves through your lives this school year.

 

We cannot wait for all the reunion hugs! Until then keep texting, calling, and FaceTiming your cabin mates and counselors – God gave you this wonderful community of girls for a reason.
