Alums as parents of campers

1st Session is in full swing. Yesterday, anxious parents and campers descended in the Canyon to kick of Summer 2017 at Laity Lodge Youth Camp. In that mix were several men and women who once had their own summer experiences 13 miles outside of Leakey, TX. With their camper and staffer summers long behind them, they now bring their own children to LLYC for the best two weeks of their lives.

Kelby Greathouse is one of these parents. Reflecting on yesterday’s drop-off, he says, “It is amazing being able to share something like LLYC with your children. We are very intentional with our boys about faith, being in the Word, and our relationship with Jesus, but this will be the beginning of their own personal journey with Jesus, and that is something Lindsey (my wife) and I are very excited about.”

Kelby is pictured above with Russell Tabor, Clay Holland and Gabe Hensley. They all spent summers together at LLYC and now their sons are all in the same cabin at Singing Hills.

No one can argue with the fact that some of the best relationships are formed at camp. How beautiful is it that many of these are second generation! I’m not sure we predicted this place becoming so special to us in just this way. It’s exciting to experience an all-new best two weeks of our life by watching our children have theirs.
